The Company

The Studio Behind the Film.

BernieZule Films is a studio I founded to bring authentic Latino stories to film and television — named for my late parents, Bernie and Zulema. Latino audiences are one of the largest, most engaged, and most underserved audiences in the country, and our mission is to help close that gap. This offering funds our first feature film, Zulema, Stay Here — and investors receive a revenue share in that film, not an ownership stake in the company.

01

Your Investment Funds the Film

You're helping fund Zulema, Stay Here, our first feature film. In return you'd receive a revenue share in the film — a percentage of its revenue up to a fixed multiple — not equity or ownership in the studio.

02

Led by an Award-Winning Filmmaker

Founder Steven Escobar is a Primetime Emmy Award-winning editor with 40+ years in film and television and 2,000+ episodes — including 15+ seasons on CBS's Big Brother. Proven execution behind a first-time studio.

03

A Large, Underserved Market

Latino audiences are among the most engaged moviegoing and streaming audiences in the country, yet remain badly underserved on screen. BernieZule is built to close that gap, project after project.

04

Multiple Revenue Streams

The film is built to earn across theatrical, streaming, licensing, and more. Your revenue share is calculated from the film's revenue across those windows, if and as it earns.

05

A Flagship Ready to Move

A female-led Latino sports drama in the lane of McFarland, USA and Selena, with a $799,000 production budget under the SAG-AFTRA Moderate Low Budget Agreement (an $840,000 raise including platform fees). Screenplay complete; production planned for 2027.

Get In Early

We're inviting investors to help fund the film as it moves toward production in 2027 — on the terms set out in our official offering materials.

The Flagship Film

Our First Story: Zulema, Stay Here.

Every studio starts with one story. Ours is a female-led coming-of-age sports drama set in the Rio Grande Valley — the flagship that proves the model, built on themes that resonate far beyond South Texas.

01

Growing Latino Audience

Latino audiences remain one of the most influential moviegoing demographics in America, yet authentic stories from communities like the Rio Grande Valley remain underrepresented on screen.

02

Female-Led Story

A coming-of-age journey told through the eyes of a young Latina athlete navigating family, identity, ambition, and belonging — universal themes across generations.

03

Underserved Region

Few feature films authentically portray the people, culture, and traditions of South Texas and the Rio Grande Valley — an untapped, proud, built-in regional audience.

The Story

A Choice That Changes Everything.

At six years old, Zulema Cantu watched her mother leave — taking her younger brother but leaving her behind with Abuela Jesusa, on the promise that she would return soon. She never did.

Twelve years later, Zulema has become one of South Texas' most talented volleyball players. When a college scholarship offers a chance to leave the Rio Grande Valley, she must confront a question she has carried her entire life: does leaving make her just like the mother who walked away?

Guided by Abuela's wisdom and challenged by her mother's unexpected return, Zulema discovers the difference between running away and choosing to go.

Honesty First

Risks & Transparency.

We believe great partnerships start with straight talk. Here's the honest picture before you ever consider investing.

What You Should Know

  • Investing in independent film is speculative and high-risk — you could lose some or all of your investment.
  • There is no guarantee the film is completed, distributed, or generates any revenue or return.
  • Returns, if any, can take years and depend on distribution that is never assured.
  • Budgets, schedules, and plans can change as production realities unfold.
  • Only invest what you can comfortably afford to lose.

Our Commitments to You

  • Regular, honest investor updates from development through release.
  • A disciplined budget built so every dollar shows on screen.
  • A clear, investor-ready structure: BernieZule Films LLC raises; Cinema Factory, Inc. produces.
  • An experienced, Emmy-winning team accountable for delivery.
  • Full offering terms and risk factors provided through our regulated crowdfunding campaign.

Questions & Answers

Investor FAQ.

The honest answers to what investors ask most. Don't see yours? Reach out anytime.

Am I investing in one film, or the whole studio?+
You'd be investing to help fund our first feature film, Zulema, Stay Here, and you'd receive a revenue share in that film — a percentage of its revenue up to a fixed multiple of your investment, after which payments stop. You would not receive equity, ownership, or a stake in BernieZule Films the studio, its library, or any future films. BernieZule Films LLC is the company making the offering; the film is what your revenue share is tied to. All terms are set out in the official offering materials filed with the SEC.
Who can invest?+
Regulation Crowdfunding is open to everyone 18 and older — both accredited and non-accredited investors — once our campaign goes live. There are federal limits on how much non-accredited investors can put in across all crowdfunding in a 12-month period, based on income and net worth; the funding portal calculates this for you automatically at checkout.
Is this an offer to invest right now?+
No. This site is here to share the project and gauge interest before our regulated campaign opens. No money is being solicited or accepted yet. When the official offering launches on our registered funding portal, everyone on our investor list is notified first, and all investing happens securely there.
What's the minimum investment?+
Regulation Crowdfunding is designed to be accessible — minimums are typically small (often around $100). The exact minimum and all terms of the revenue share are confirmed when the campaign launches and will be detailed in the official offering materials on our funding portal.
What do I actually get for investing?+
You would receive a revenue share — a contractual right to a percentage of the film's revenue until you have received a fixed multiple of the amount you invested. Once that multiple is reached, payments stop.

You would not receive ownership, equity, membership units, or voting rights in BernieZule Films LLC, and you would not have a stake in the studio's future films. The exact percentage, multiple, and all other terms will be set out in the official offering materials filed with the SEC.

Separately, investors receive thank-you perks as a bonus — these are appreciation gifts, not securities and not a financial return.
How is my money used?+
We're raising $840,000. About $799,000 funds the film's production — roughly 25% above-the-line (talent & creative), 70% production (crew, locations, equipment, post), and 5% contingency — and the balance covers the Regulation Crowdfunding platform and offering fees. BernieZule Films raises the capital, manages the production, and holds the rights to the resulting film; Cinema Factory, Inc. provides production services and delivers it under a written agreement. See the full breakdown.
How could the film make money?+
A completed film can earn across five revenue streams — theatrical, streaming, international sales, physical media, and festivals — often for years after release. Importantly, none of this is guaranteed: independent film is speculative, and there is no assurance of distribution or any return. Please read Risks & Transparency.
What's the timeline?+
The screenplay is complete and the budget and plan are locked. Once funded, the flagship film shoots over 19 days in the Rio Grande Valley, with production planned for 2027, followed by post-production, festivals, and distribution. Exact dates depend on completing the raise; investors receive regular updates at every stage.
Who is behind the studio?+
BernieZule Films was founded and is led by Steven Escobar — a Prime-Time Emmy Award-winning editor, producer, writer, and director with 40+ years and 2,000+ episodes — including 15+ seasons on CBS's Big Brother — who grew up in Edinburg, Texas. The studio is named for his late parents, Bernie and Zulema. Meet the founder.
What are the risks?+
Investing in independent film is speculative and high-risk — you could lose your entire investment. There's no guarantee the film is completed, distributed, or earns revenue, and any return can take years. Only invest what you can comfortably afford to lose, and review all offering materials and our Risks & Transparency section first.
